Dyslexia affects
people of all races. Being dyslexic does not mean one lacks in intelligence
department and therefore should not be confused with reading retardation which
may results from mental retardation. The effects of dyslexia differ from one
person to another but the fact is, people with this disability are able to read
at level considerable lower than the average person in their age group for
example a 16 year-old suffering from dyslexia may have reading level of a 10
year-old.
Studies have indicated that most
children with learning disabilities have dyslexia and it is more common in boys
than girls.
